Day: Santander |
We start our trip in the cantabrian capitals Santander,
Santander opens out to the sea. It is a peaceful, cozy city
located on the northern end of a large bay, this city is set
in beautiful surroundings. Our local guide will show you the
city, we will see the Sardineros beach, The cathedral,
the Magdalenas Palace and the casino between others.
| At 1941 a big part of the city
was destroyed by fire, It was then rebuilt as a modem
city, with many parks, broad avenues and public spaces
such as the Plaza Porticada and Paseo de Pereda (Pereda
Promenade). Among the most important sights to see there
is the Gothic cathedral |
|
whose baptismal font was once, in all likelihood, the ritual
washing fountain of a mosque. The cathedral also has an interesting
crypt with three naves.
The Magdalena Palace was built by the city and offered as a
personal gift to Alfonso XIII and his wife Victoria Eugenia
for their summer stays in Santander. Today it is home to the
Menéndez y Pelayo International University. The Magdalena
Peninsula, on which it is situated, is a beautiful, popular
public park with a minizoo, playground, restaurants and cafés.We
will stay all the day in Santander, at late evening special
welcome dinner, after, visit to the Sardinero Casino which is
a brilliant, glittering place to enjoy. Overnight in Santander.

of bison and deer, dating back 14,000 years, have been off limits
to most visitors since 1982, when it were closed for a best
preservation. Now every line, crack and crevice of the homage
to the hunt has been recreated, a few hundred meters from the
entrance to original caves. After visiting the caves we will
see the medieval town of Santillana del Mar. After that we will
drive to Suances . located in a privileged situation, in considered
one of the most beautiful villas on the Cantabrian coast, dinner
