Day: Madrid -
Salamanca |
After breakfast we will drive to Salamanca where we will spend
all the day and the night, we have chosen a traditional hotel
in the city centre. The knowledgeable Salamanca, with its two
universities, two cathedrals and its many palaces and churches,
peaks at the beauty of its Plaza Mayor. So much richness in
such close quarters shares perfectly the youthful air of the
hundreds of the university students. The visitor will find within
Salamanca little streets brimming with history

and life, that
create the enchantment of this city which is not based
only in its monuments. It is a summary of history throughout
the centuries. In its mix of quietness from the ancient
masonry, time has passed together with the joyful noise
of the youth, that in its invigorating spirit, resides
the magic of Salamanca. |

Day: Salamanca
- Ciudad Rodrigo - Plasencia |
After breakfast we will drive to Ciudad Rodrigo. Originally
a Roman settlement, this town was abandoned and reestablished
in the 12th cent as a fortress. Preserving its medieval flavor,
has been declared a historic monument. This old city has a lot
to see, you will enjoy his cathedrals,
| palaces, the city
walls, and historic buildings , from Prehistory to present
day art: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-classical,
every style has left their mark on Ciudad Rodrigo
throughout the centuries, this historical city is surrounded
by amazing landscapes , the river Águeda, which
runs through the town, is the lord and master of the most
beautiful spots in the province of Salamanca. We will
stay in Ciudad Rodrigo all the morning, after our
visit, lunch in a |

typical restaurant of the town, and in the early afternoon we
will drive to Plasencia. This historic city
was conquered by king Alfonso VIII in 1178 and is famous for
its two Cathedrals, the old Cathedral, dating from the 13c,
has cistercian traces and o proto-gothic construction, and its
dome, the best attraction of the cathedral, dates from the later
romanesc period and also presents bizantine influences. The
16C New Cathedral is in the reanaissance style, and is famous
because the most famous arquitects of the 16C worked on it.
But this won't be the end of our visit, Plasencia has
more to offer, will visit the Courthouse and the Episcopal palace
too, at late evening check in at Hotel and dinner in the hotel's
restaurant. Overnight.

Day: Plasencia
- Cáceres |
After breakfast, we will drive to Cáceres , a monumental
city famous for his architectonic richness, you will discover
the mixture of styles in its architecture from the Arabic through
the Gothic, the Italian renaissance and the influential legacies
of the Americas. This medieval city is perfect to get lost within
its labyrinth of medieval streets and plazas, under its arches,
its towers and its battlements; within its churches, beautiful
convents and amazing palaces. Our visit in Cáceres will
be a walk through the old quarter, our local guide will choose
our stops, including, the convent of Santa Clara, the san Mateo's
church and the Episcopal palace between others. At late evening
check in at hotel and dinner in one of the best known restaurants
of the old quarter .Overnight.

Day: Cáceres - Trujillo - Mérida

After breakfast we will go to the town of Trujillo, the very
mention of Trujillo conjures up the conquest of América
and the subsequent meeting of two worlds.It brings to mind names
such as Francisco Pizarro, the conqueror of Perú
between others.

The visit that we
will do in Trujillo starts with a walk through
the city walls and the castle, a 10c fortress built by
the moors, we will visit too the upper part of the city,
where there are numerous palaces and solid houses such
as the palaces of Los Chaves and the arquitectural jewel
of the city the church of Santa Maria la Mayor,
before leaving Trujillo we will go to the Plaza
Mayor where is found statue of Francisco Pizarro
that is exactly the same as the one that |
can be found in Lima ( Perú).
The lunch will be in Trujillo and after we will go to Mérida.
This city stands on the site of the roman Augusta Emerita, founded
in the year 26BC, as a settlement of veteran roman soldiers.
As you can imagine the best attractions of the city are its
roman ruins, the most important are the Roman theatre, Amphiteatre
and Museum. The national museum of roman art was designed by
the architect Rafael Moneo and is one of the most important
of its kind in the world.
There are other things to visit in the city, like the arqueological
museum, and other roman constructions like the Trajan's arch,
the aqueduct of Los Milagros and the Roman circus. Overnight
in Mérida.

Day: Mérida
- Zafra - Badajoz |
After breakfast we will visit Zafra, this city is commonly referred
to as "Little Seville" because of the friendliness
of its people and the hustle and bustle of its streets. The
entire town was declared site of interest to art and arquitrecture.
The town is of moorish origin and came into existence during
the 11 century.
The interesting
places we will visit there are the classicist courtyard,
that now houses the Hernán Cortés Parador,
the collegiate church of Nuestra Señora de la
Candelaria, and the parish church museum, we also
recommend you to do a walk through the Plaza Grande
and Plaza Chica.
In the afternon we will visit Badajoz, just 7 km from
the portuguese border, will be our last stop before coming
back to Madrid. The most important monuments in Badajoz
are the Alcazaba or fortress and |

the cathedral, which was constructed following the reconquest
of the city by the christian forces in the 1230. The symbol
of the city is the Palmas gate, built in 1551 which was used
as a prison until the beginning of the last century.Overnight
in Badajoz.

Day: Badajoz -
Guadalupe - Madrid |
After breakfast we will come back to Madrid, stopping in Guadalupe.
This village is of great architectural beauty and its dominated
by its Gothic-cum. Mudejar Monastery built in 1340. The best
attractions of the village are found in this Monastery, its
Embrodery museum, and the basilica are things that you will
enjoy. Guadalupe is an excellent place to acquire typical crafts
made of copper and tin. In fact this village was already famed
for its metal obvjects in the 15C, after vising the village
we will drive to Madrid where in the afternoon we will visit
the Museo del Prado, Without doubt this is one of the
best museums of the world since it opened in 1819, this massive
collection is a testament to the centuries of devotion to art
accumulation by the Spanish monarchy and church, and to the
attitudes prevalent in the age of enlightenment when the Prado
was conceived.
The building was designed by the neo-classic architect Juan
de Villanueva, and is located on the Paseo del Prado,
in one of Madrid's most attractive areas.

After breakfast and depending on your flight schedule you will
have free time. Transfer to Madrid Airport. End of the trip.
