the first romans discovered a privileged land for wine producing
and the monks perfected its flavour. With this amazing trip,
you will feel what should be the Middle Age, between Monasteries,
Churches, Towns and a traditional way of its inhabitants
which it would not leave you indiferent at all

And ending in the Basque Country, this land has a strong
personality. Its people are proud of its customs and culture.
To talk about Basque Country means to taste the best flavours
of world-wide Cuisine, means to admire green landscapes hidden
between valleys and mountains, means to get inside the Modern
Art at the Guggenheim

Day: Madrid/Barcelona
- La Rioja |
At the forecasted time transfer from the Airport to Haro (La
Rioja). Overnight in Haro.

Day: Haro - Santo
Domingo de la Calzada - Sant Millan de la Cogolla - Haro |
After Breakfast. Visit to the Wine Museum in Haro. Posibility
to visit a Wine Cellar with tasting: La Rioja is one of the
best wine regions: there are hundreds of vineyards cultivating
native grapes: tempranillo,
After lunch. Visit to Santo
Domingo de la Calzada: medieval town with its
Cathedral. If you
are visiting La Rioja in spring, you will have the oportunity
to watch the storks on the top of the belfries. Following
to San Millán de la Cogolla with the Suso
Monastery: where there is the first written proof of the
castilian and basque language. This Monastery is one the
most beatiful and historical monuments of Spain. Come
back to Haro. Overnight.

Day: Haro - Logroño
- Ezcaray - Valdezcaray - Haro |
After Breakfast. Gastronomic visit to old part of Logroño:
Logroño is the capital of La Rioja. One of its curious
activities is making "The Elephant Route": Across
to the Laurel Street you will discover picturesque bars for
tapas: small and varied dishes like: tortilla, cojonudos, setas
de chopo, etc
It is marevollous to share with the "logroñeses"
this gastronomic ritual -specially in the weekends-.
After lunch, we will drive to Ezcaray: a mountainous town. This
small and beatiful city is a perfect place to admire Sierra
de San Lorenzo from where the River Rio Oja (origin of the
name of this region) borns. Look at its houses Casas Blasonadas
and then drive up to its sky station: Valdezcaray. Comeback
to Haro. Overnight.

Day: Haro - La Guardia - San Sebastian

After Breakfast. We will leave La Rioja to enter in the Basque
Country. La Guardia (The Guard) is an armonious town on the
top of a mountain which its strategic situation permits a fantastic
view of the Valley. It is worth to walk around its streets and
medieval walls.
After lunch we will continue to San Sebastian: probably the
most beatiful city in Spain.
Go up to Monte Igueldo, and admire its famous beach

day the look of
the beach and its promenade. La Concha because
of its form (Shell) profiles a symetric architecture of
the city. The old part is full of good bars for tasting
Tapas: hundreds of Tapas are on the bar ready to be eaten.
Across narrow streets you will end to Plaza Mayor. We
recommend you to visit The Aquarium -one of the best in
Europe-.Overnight in San Sebastian. |

Day: San Sebastian
- Zarautz - Guetaria - Bilbao |
After Breakfast. Will will follow the coast line direction to
Bilbao. There are two fisher towns: Zarautz and Guetaria
which is recommended to stop and have a lunch. Try to find a
restaurant in the beach, ask for seafood and Txacolí
(young and carbonic white wine).
After lunch continue to Bilbao. Overnight.

After breakfast. Today we will visit Bilbao. Bilbao has long
been an industrial city of little interest to the budget traveller,
however the recent addition of the spectacular Museum Guggenheim
has spearheaded the city's renaissance.
With a spectacular
building and an impressive collection of contemporary
art, the Museum Guggenheim is the city's
big attraction. However the nearby Museo de Bellas
Artes is also worth a visit.
The Casco Viejo neighbourhood across the river
from the train station is the place to head to at night.

and restaurants
Overnight in Bilbao.

Day: Bilbao -
Vitoria - Bilbao |
After breakfast. We will drive down to Vitoria, capital of Alava´s
Province, we will spend all the day there , our local guide
will show you the city with a visit starting in the old city
also called Campillo, with rests of the old city walls
dating from the XII century
don't forget to visit the cathedral
and the Palace de los Escoriaza-Esquibel, other activities
to do in Vitoria will be watching, the pelota vasca game,
one of the most representative folklore of the basque country
. At late evening we will come back to Bilbao, and then we will
say good bye the trip with a great dinner we have specially
prepared for you.
